Stephen Taylor
Stephen is Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School and the CIPD's Chief Examiner for Managing in a Strategic Business Context.Reviews
The text is informative and readable. Taylor has hit the mark for the audience he's aiming at.
Amanda J. Thompson, Principal Lecturer, Leicester Business School, De Monfort University
A particularly strong feature of this text is its academic rigour combined with a writing style that is eminently digestible for students. It also gives good coverage to critical perspectives in each of the main practice areas dealt with in the various chapters.
Alastair Evans, Senior Lecturer in HRM, Thames Valley University
Compared with other textbooks on resourcing it provides better depth on topics with a good range of academic references which is particularly important at post-graduate level.
Susan J. Angus, Cumbria Business School, University of Central Lancashire
For the 3rd edition:
People Resourcing will be my core recommended text! I am delighted to see a broad 'competitive business', 'international' and 'value added' perspective, while also covering operational HR matters, including critique. It has excellent suggestions for exercises and discussions and gives useful links to on-line articles. As well as comprehensive references, this edition particularly directs students to just a few key additional readings on each topic: a feature busy part time students will love! I like Taylor's approach to the subject of Resourcing and his easy to read and engaging style - features which are especially important for students whose first language is not English. I thoroughly recommend the third edition and hope you will enjoy using it as much as I know my students will.
Wendy Banfield, Senior Lecturer in HRM, Middlesex University Business School
