Description

Catering specifically for the Employee Reward module of the CIPD PDS qualification, as well as for Reward modules in the wider HR and business degree market, this text is one of only a few titles to specifically focus on Reward in the market place. Designed to offer an analytical approach to Reward within a balanced look at theory and practice, this text seeks to avoid a prescriptive view of Reward and instead offers a questioning approach to the subject area. Features include a variety of mini case studies and worked examples with analytical discussion points, and a more analytical approach is adopted throughout the text to encourage critical thinking.

Customer reviews

'The author states at the outset that she wants to be both practical in approach and assess theoretical perspectives - this is well done.

The text is well referenced and researched to provide coverage at post-graduate level. The use of case studies throughout the text is a very positive feature of the book as few good case studies are available in other reward textbooks. The short questions are a good idea - they break up the chapter content and give the students something practical on which to link the ideas they are absorbing.'
Sally Howe

'The text offers a good level of analytical detail within an accessible style. The text sticks well to its subject, and has good treatment of issues of current and topical interest. A range of practical examples are provided, and the balance of examples seem appropriate being drawn from all employment sectors, including the public and not-for-profit sectors. The variety and currency of the examples and the case studies is one of the strengths of the text.
There are useful cross-references to other parts of the book, and such assistance improves the overall value of a text. The text adds a valuable new dimension in terms of analytical approach and accessible ideas on current issues.'
