Chartered Companion (Chartered CCIPD)
The most senior level of membership and can only be achieved by invitation. It is awarded in recognition of a significant contribution to the profession or CIPD.
Chartered Fellow (Chartered FCIPD)
The most senior grade of membership that can be applied for. You must have ten years’ relevant managerial experience. Your current and most recent roles must be at a strategic level. Chartered fellowship allows you to to use the designation Chartered FCIPD after your name. Upgrade to Fellow from Graduate or chartered membership.
Chartered Member (Chartered MCIPD)
Chartered members can use the designation Chartered MCIPD after their name.
To become a Chartered Member you must be a Graduate member with three years’ relevant experience at managerial level (two of which must be in HR or development).
Chartered membership can also be achieved by having your experience assessed through professional assessment of competence (PAC).
Graduate
Graduate membership can be achieved by meeting all four fields of our practitioner-level standards. This can be done through studying a CIPD approved postgraduate qualification, or by having your experience assessed. Graduate membership doesn’t allow the use of a CIPD designation after your name.
Licentiate
Is available to those who have partially completed the practitioner-level qualification. It indicates completion of at least one full field of the qualification through examination (excluding Applied Personnel and Development field) or achievement of an appropriate NVQ/SVQ. Doesn’t allow the use of a CIPD designation.
Associate
Available upon successful completion of a CIPD approved certificate-level qualification or a relevant level 3 or 4 NVQ/SVQ. Doesn’t allow the use of a CIPD designation.
Studying Affiliate
If you’re working towards a CIPD approved qualification or doing professional assessment of competence (PAC) then you’ll be invited to join the CIPD as a studying Affiliate. Studying Affiliate members pay a subsidised fee and are given full access to all member services. To join us as a studying Affiliate you’ll need to register with a CIPD centre of education.
Affiliate
Affiliate membership is an individual grade that’s open to all. It gives you direct access to CIPD member services without having to demonstrate your professional knowledge and competence. Affiliate membership is not a professional grade.
