The most senior level of membership. Chartered Companion can only be achieved by invitation and is awarded in recognition of a significant contribution to the profession.
An Associate member works in a role giving vital support to the key areas of HR (central HR, learning and development or another professional area of HR). They use their specialist HR skills and knowledge to support HR leaders and managers.
A Chartered Member demonstrates the expertise needed to plan and manage generalist or specialist HR operations. Combining their HR professional knowledge, skill and insights with an understanding of an organisation's context and structure, they create and deliver integrated HR services and solutions that help drive their organisation.
A Chartered Fellow holds a strategic position and demonstrates the expertise to lead the key areas of HR. Using their professional skills, knowledge and experience, they determine, develop and implement HR strategies, plans and policies to promote and achieve organisational success.
A student member is someone who is working towards a professional level of membership.
Affiliate membership gives you direct access to CIPD member services without having to demonstrate your professional knowledge and competence. Affiliate membership is not a professional grade.
A Graduate member has the underpinning knowledge for Chartered Member (achieved through professional qualification or assessment). Graduate members can apply to upgrade to Chartered Member. Graduate membership ends June 2014.
