Professional membership is the benchmark for best practice in HR, and it's also valued by employers. It consists of Associate member (Assoc CIPD), Chartered Member (Chartered MCIPD) and Chartered Fellow (Chartered FCIPD). First, you might want to have a look at our professional member overview table, which highlights the key differences in experience and activity for each level. Find out more about each professional membership by clicking on the links below.
Interested in CIPD professional membership?
To become a CIPD professional member, you can either choose to study a CIPD professional qualification, which gives you the knowledge requirement to upgrade to professional membership. Alternatively you can become a CIPD professional member through our new route, Experience Assessment.
Academic membership
Professional membership also includes Academic membership, our new route recognising the unique contribution made in the HR profession by those engaged in teaching, lecturing and research. There are three levels of Academic membership, each with designatory letters.
