Jackie Orme
Chief Executive, CIPD

 
Jackie will assume the position of CEO of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in April 2008. She joins from PepsiCo International, where she was Chief Personnel Officer and Vice-President, HR. She was a member of the UK Executive Board of PepsiCo International, and sat on the global PepsiCo International HR Council. She is also on the Board of Shelter, the housing and homelessness charity.

During her 20-year career, Jackie has developed global experience and a thorough understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing HR professionals today. She has extensive experience in HR, and has also led a number of business transformation and integration projects across PepsiCo International. She’s looking forward to using her experience and her new role to build on the CIPD’s successes in providing excellent support and services to members and their colleagues in general and line management, as well as a strong voice for the HR profession.

Steve Crabb
Editor, People Management magazine

 
Steve is editor of our journal, People Management magazine. He has been a professional journalist for 20 years. Before beginning his career in journalism, he studied Modern History at Oxford University, followed by a course in industrial relations at Oxford’s Management Studies Centre. He has specialised in human resources and management journalism throughout his career, and has been a magazine editor for the last 12 years.

Steve is a member of the executive committee of the British Society of Magazine Editors, a member of the Periodical Publishers’ Association and a training consultant with the Periodicals Training Council.

Linda Holbeche
Director of Research & Policy, CIPD

Linda joined the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) as Director of Research and Policy in July 2007.Immediately prior to joining CIPD, Linda was Director of Leadership and Consultancy at The Work Foundation and previous roles include Director of Research and Strategy at Roffey Park Management Institute, Management Development manager for American Express, various senior teaching positions and a spell in publishing.

Named as one of the Top 40 power players in personnel by Personnel Today in 2000-2002 and 2005-07, Linda has a strong interest in helping organisations and individuals achieve sustainable high performance. Her career history combines extensive experience and expertise in management and organisational development with a strong track record in leading-edge research. Linda specialises in leadership development, the development of human resources professionals, organisational development/change management and executive coaching.

Mike Watts
Director of Membership & Education, CIPD


Mike Watts joined the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development as Professional Development Director. He joined from the Cabinet Office, where, as Director of HR Transformation, he led initiatives to professionalize HR across the UK civil service. Previously he had a long and successful career at Lloyds TSB, where he started out in business development and line management roles, before moving into progressively more senior director roles in Personnel and Development.

The Professional Development Director is responsible for leading strategies for the growth of CIPD membership and for maintaining and developing the high standards and relevance of CIPD professional qualifications and their application. The role, at the heart of the CIPD and its work, provides an opportunity to act as a leading spokesperson and advocate for the profession in its relations with business, government, and education and training providers.

Martin Ferber
Executive Director HR, International Region, Pfizer R&D


Martin Ferber leads the International region HR function for the R&D division of Pfizer, the Global Pharmaceutical company. A scientist by educational background, Martin has focused his HR career on the R&D environment, primarily at the UK research centre, and more recently further afield including continental Europe, India, Japan and the Far East. A Chartered Companion of the Institute, Martin has contributed to the annual conference, chairs events and seminar days and contributes to the Professional Policy Committee of the CIPD. He is on the editorial board of the Human Resource Management Journal, National readers Panel for the Queen's Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education. Martin currently chairs the Pfizer Ltd Pension Trustees and has previously served as Vice-Chair of South Kent College of Further and Higher Education.
