Aims, Charter and Bye-laws, Regulations

Our aims

  • To advance continuously the management and development of people to the benefit of individuals, employers and the community at large.
  • To be the professional body for those specialising in advancing the management and the development of people, recognised as the leading authority and influence in this field.

Our Charter and Bye-laws

The CIPD was granted Royal Charter on 1 July 2000. The Charter is the governing document of the CIPD and, together with the Bye-laws, sets out the powers of the Institute. The Charter and Bye-laws also provide for the constitution of the Council, the CIPD's supervisory and advisory body, and the Executive Board which is constituted for the purpose of the management and administration of the property of the CIPD and the conduct of its business.

Our Regulations

The CIPD's Regulations have been made by the Executive Board under the provisions of the Charter and Bye-laws.
