Jackie Orme, Chief Executive
Jackie has been Chief Executive of the CIPD since April 2008. She has been an HR practitioner for more than 17 years.
Before joining the CIPD Jackie spent 12 years working for PepsiCo – including 7 years leading the UK and Ireland HR function and sitting on both the UK Executive Board of PepsiCo International and the global PepsiCo International HR Council.

Stephanie Bird, Director of HR Capability
Stephanie joined the CIPD in April 2009 as Director of HR Capability. She has over 20 years global HR experience, including organisations such as ICI, KPMG, CSC and Dell.
Immediately before joining CIPD she was VP HR at BP plc, responsible for Talent and Organisation capability for the group. She had also been a non-executive on the CIPD Enterprises Board for 2 years. She is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD.

Karen McMillan, Client Development Director
Karen joined the CIPD in September 2011 as Client Development Director to develop the CIPD’s business-to-business proposition and enable a strong client-centric approach to supporting organisatons both in the UK and Internationally.
Experienced in Sales Management and Consultancy Karen has worked extensively in the commercial FMCG arena both independently, and for blue chip organisations such as Mars Confectionery and PepsiCo International, and high end retailer Selfridges.

Sarah Miles, Managing Director for CIPD in Asia
Sarah has worked at the CIPD since 2009 firstly leading the work to define and create the HR Profession Map, and most recently working with organisations to build HR capability through the work of the Organisation Effectiveness and Development Team.
Prior to joining the CIPD Sarah was an HR practitioner for more than 18 years – working across a broad range of sectors and specialisms. Most recently Sarah worked for PepsiCo for 12 years doing a variety of UK and international roles – including Head of HR for all manufacturing and logistics activities in the UK and Ireland businesses.

John Philpott, Chief Economic Adviser
John is Chief Economic Adviser at the CIPD. He has a Doctorate from the University of Oxford and is Visiting Professor of Economics at the University of Hertfordshire. John joined the CIPD as Chief Economist in November 2000.
From 1987- 2000 John was Director of the Employment Policy Institute (EPI), an independent policy think-tank. John is a former Specialist Adviser to the House of Commons Select Committee on Employment (1993-1996) and the House of Lords EU Select Committee (2007). He is a Fellow of the RSA and a member of the Society of Business Economists.

Lisa Sarjeant, HR Director
Lisa is the HR Director at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). She is a member of the senior management team contributing to the strategic direction and operational effectiveness of all the Institute’s activities. In particular, her role is to develop and lead the CIPD’s People Strategy to advance and achieve CIPD’s business goals. Lisa also directs the buildings facilities and she leads the direction of CIPD’s local branch networks throughout the UK and Ireland.
Lisa has over 20 years experience in HR with her career spanning public, private and the third sector. She is a Chartered Fellow of CIPD and gained the post-graduate diploma in people management and development in 1993 and she has undertaken a wealth of continuous professional development at highly regarded business schools as well as designing, running and taking part in tailored activities such as a leadership development programme in her current role.

Ian Saville, Chief Operating Officer
Ian was appointed as CIPD Finance Director in 2005. He joined from Penna plc, a global human capital management consultancy where he was Finance and Commercial Director over a nine year period, gaining extensive experience of acquiring and developing businesses in the HR services sector. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
In 2006 Ian successfully led a strategic review of the CIPD Commercial business and subsequently took on the Commercial Director role in 2007. The Commercial business encompasses CIPD Training, Conferences and Exhibitions, Publishing and other commercial ventures with revenue in excess of £17m.
He became Chief Operating Officer in 2009 and now is also accountable for central operations and for the development of CIPD sales capability in addition to Finance and Commercial operations.

Sue Upton, Interim Managing Director
Sue joined the CIPD in February 2000 and has held roles in both Marketing and Communications. She joined the CIPD Executive Team in December 2006, and is the Institute's Director of Membership and Marketing. In November 2011 she was appointed as the CIPD’s Interim Managing Director, fulfiling this role in addition to her ongoing responsibility for continuously improving the benefits, services and value current and future members derive from the Institute.
Sue is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and is a Chartered Marketer.

Marianne Wyles, Institute Secretary
Marianne joined the CIPD as Institute Secretary in March 2009. She is responsible for managing its governance activity and for ensuring that all constitutional, legal and charitable obligations are met. This involves keeping the Board and Committee structure under review as well as liaison with the Privy Council and Charities Commission on the Charter and Bye-laws. She also reports to the Board on corporate governance issues and manages the operation of the Code of Conduct.
Marianne is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
