Allinonenews.com
A news service that covers about 200 countries.  There is a list of different topics down the left hand navigation, including 'business', which allows more specific searching.  It will retrieve the top stories.

Antal
This UK-based global executive search company has produced a survey showing hring and firing intentions in countries around the world.

Asian Development Bank
This website has a report on economic statistics runing to more than 300 pages.  Key Economic Indicators is an annual report.  You can also sign up to a newsletter on registration.

Babelfish
A Yahoo website which will translate text into or from another language. It is advisable to use two sites as translations can vary quite widely.

Baker McKenzie
This firm of solicitors' website has a series of publications listed under the resources tab, about doing business in different, mainly European, countries

(BCG)
This American consultancy website has many useful publications, the latest ones are on developments in Asia.

British expat
At this independent website you can find a checklist of things to consider before relocating.  It takes the employee from 90 days before expatriation right through to the moving day itself.

Brookfield Global Relocation Services
Brookfield has some surveys relating to international mobility and trends.

BT 
This part of British Telecom's website looks at business developments in Brazil, Russia, India and China.

Brookfield Global Relocation
This agency publishes a monthly news letter for which registration may be necessary.  There is an archive of articles one of which covers repatriation

From this large official US website you can find statistics for other countries.

Subscription service to emergency help abroad. Can help with medical translations, tracking lost luggage. Electronic document storage.

Centre for Talent Innovation
Until recently called Centre for Work-Life Policy has publications interesting for those operating in a global context. A new website is promised soon.

Citehr.com
A community website not unlike the CIPD Professional Communities, but for India.  Recommended by a member of CIPD

Corporate Executive Board 
Sponsored by Corporate Leadership Council, the CEB produced a report in May 2007, HR risks and opportunities when entering emerging markets, giving a checklist of risk factors when thinking of entering emerging markets.

Daily Telegraph
The Telegraph has gathered relevant stories of interest to expats, into an online newspaper for expats

Deloitte
This consultancy website has done a report in 2005: The state of HR in Central Europe:  do you measure up? Covers Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia. 
There is also a report on global mobility and talent: 2010: Smarter moves:  executing and integrating global mobility and talent programs

Department for Business, Innovation and Skills
The Department has produced a comparative overview of leave policies in a large number of countries.

Directgov 
A Government catch-all website.  This part gives information for Britons living or preparing to go abroad.  Find out about your rights abroad under the law of your European Union destination country.

Dropbox
A way of sharing all data, that you need on a foreign trip with all electronic applications you have.  It will even update itineraries or files documents across the lot.  Dropbox has a video on the homepage to explain what they do.

Dubai Government website
This government site gives information on employment law in Dubai.  Gives information of such topics as contracts, leave and discipline.

Economist
The weekly journal had an article in the 6th August 2010issue on the Chinese labour market with demographic, economic and labour market graphs.

einnews
International website giving news coverage for over 300 countries.  You can also search by topic, including HR.  You can have a week's free trial which is $39 per month, before subscribing.

Employee Benefits
The journal had an article in February 2011 concerning benefits provision in Portugal.

Employment Law Alliance
This American website gives access to global employment law via their employee handbooks section.  After free registraton, you will be able to type see information you need by typing in the country name.

Ernst and Young
This consultancy site has a report on Taking hold of mobility risk
It concerns risks involvd with posting employees abroad.

Euractiv.com
This European  site gives current news on labour market issues in Europe. 

Eures
Official European law site giving information on Working Conditions, finding accommodation, finding a school, taxes, cost of living, health, social legislation, comparability of qualifications.

Eurofound
The European Industrial Relations Observatory (EIRO) is a monitoring instrument offering news and analysis on European industrial relations. The database contains more than 8,000 records dating from 1997 onwards, covering news and feature articles, comparative studies, annual reviews, thematic and sectoral analyses and EIRObserver bulletin (1997-2004)

European Human Resource Forum 
A network of multinational HR workers.

European Association of Personnel Management
Website of the European Association of Personnel Management which is an umbrella body of national organisations which represent personnel professionals. Provides some online documents and includes a number of resources on European law.

European Foundation for Quality Management
Website of a not-for-profit networking organisation to improve management and leadership in European companies.

European Professional Women’s Network
This network operates in many European countries and is interested in mentoring and getting women to board level.

European Working Conditions Observatory
This offshoot of Eurofound has produced a paper: Flexible forms of work: ‘very atypical’ contractual arrangements  reviewing what other European countries have put in place in this area and the issues it has raised.

Eversheds
This UK law firm has articles produced almost daily on a wide range of subjects and hot topics including Hr e-briefings. Online reference guides on a range of subjects and information on global employment law. Has now introduced an app available via mobile, blackberry and desktop,on international law for selected European countries.

Expatfocus.com
This independent website has a brief checklist of things to think about before leaving.

Expatica
A site covering issues common to expats in Belgium, France, Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Switzerland.

Farnham Castle - Centre for International Briefing
Runs training for those going on international assignments.  Use the menu on the left to pick your subject.

Federation of European Employers
Gives pay for 49 Countries.  Each table lists 32 different jobs.  Gives wage trends and a table of days lost through strikes and walkouts.

Foreign and Commonwealth Office 
Gives a run-down on the political and economic
state of countries worldwide. Has a click-through to travel advice.  Also provides a service called Locate, where you register before going on a business trip or holiday so that in an emergency your relatives and embassy officials can check your are okay or try to help.

Google

Amongst a host of other peripheral applications Google offers a simultaneous translation service as you type in the English text.  As translations can vary quite widely, it is advisable to use another site for comparison.
If you need to search for something in another country, perhaps an employment lawyer, you could try using Google translate_s  This will search your topic in pages from the other country and translate the text for you.

Gulf Research Centre
This organisation has a news page Gulf in the Media  giving headline and short synopses of relevant current news

GulfTalent
This recruitment agency has done a salary survey for 2010 and a forecast for 2011.  The report is free on registration.

Hay Group
This consultancy website has an informative article on changes to US pensions, giving employer responsibilities and a checklist of dates to follow.  

Holidayweather.com
Including this site is not quite as frivolous as it might seem.  Could be useful for planning clothes to take on foreign business trips.

India Pakistan Trade Unit
Supported by the European Regional Development Fund, IPTU has been designed and created by the International Trade Team at Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. The site has much information for those starting a business in India on employment law and other procedures.

Intermundo
Website of an online network and intercultural community which contains resources on intercultural communication. Free registration is required.

International Institute for Management Development (IMD)
This Swiss business school has produced a paper: The nuts and bolts of China's competitiveness:the story of a country's rise and the challenges ahead  It explains where China sits in the pecking order of global competitveness.

International Labour Organisation 
Gives international labour law country by country.

Ius Laboris 
A legal website giving a table of comparative employment laws across Eastern Europe and information on age discrimination legislation in different countries

JSB 
This law firm has an article comparing US labor law with UK employment law.

KPMG
This consultancy firm has produced some factsheets on microsite international assignments and the points that need to be considered.

Krauthammer
This Belgian coaching, consulting and training company produced a report: How to become a born manager It is a survey of pan- European employees and what they think of their managers.

Leading virtually.com
A virtual team blogsite describes and gives a link to Wonderland.  This is new software that can be used by employees in different countries who want to work on and discuss a document together.

Mayer Brown
Thie website of this international law firm has information on labour law in Chine (PRC)

Mercer
This global consultancy does an annual, international cost of living survey.  You can also request their annual survey of Benefits and compensation plans around the world from them.  Register free for a weekly newsletter summarising government-level changes worldwide - useful for those with global interests, and a global mobility newsletter which usually carries two quality articles and possibly an invitation to a webcast. Mercers are now doing global online traing at three levels. If you have, or can install Java, your can see: Taking the Best Path to Implementing a Global Pay Structure. MIT World
This offshoot of the Massachusetts Institute for Technology has a video moderated by Peter Senge on Leading Across Boundaries

There is a great deal of French employment law at this Government site.  Just one snag - it's in French.  You could try copying and pasting the relevant setions into the translation site in this section - Babelfish or Yahoo.

Mondaq
A website informed by professonal companies who donate their input on matters of employment and employment law in 70 countries worldwide.

NewsNow
This legal website has an employmnt law section giving latest case law.  Just look down the list to find the Union Jack symbol for UK cases and top stories.

Omneport 
Online travel document storage.  Might be useful for travel to insecure parts of the world.

ONEcall
Emergency interpretation in China. Has Chinese interpreters to call for in emergencies.

Pacificbridge.com 
Looks at HR in Asia Pacific, giving articles on trends and other interesting topics. You may need to register.

The People Forum
This consultancy website has a book extract from 2007, on branding and globalisation and how it affects HR concerns.

PriceWaterhouseCoopers 
10th Annual Global CEO Survey: the world in 2050. Looks at emerging economies as they get bigger and how OECD countries will compete. Has International assignment folios.These give the tax considerations on going to a country, what to do whilst there and the necessary actions pertaining to taxation on leaving the country of assignment.  Also has tax tools largely featuring Belgium. Re:locate magazine [online]
This monthly online magazine has a selection of jobs, a list of school open days, policies for internal and external relocation and articles on relocating to specific countries.  There is also a six-page factsheet for which you may need to register:  International relocation policy.

This sponsored website has some sample policies which can be accessed under the Human Resources tab at the top of the page

Totally expat
This website has current information on changing visa and work permit requirements around the world as well as some practical and discursive articles, including Effective Strategies for Expatriate Cost Management; though you may have to register for this one

Towers Watson
Downloadable reports on HR service delivery and the TP Global Workforce Survey. Has an area tracking US legislation.  Also free articles, white papers, video and podcasts on HR issues.  
Publishes priced reports giving information on benefits and terms for Singapore and Salary and benefits and terms of employment for Malaysia.  Has published report: Overhauling Europe's Pensions and another: China: collective Negotiation: an emerging trend and some general global reports can be found on the website

UBS
This global bank has produced an international prices and earnings comparison report   Gives comparative prices for clothing, appartment rental, meals out, hourly pay, working hours and vacation days.

White Case
This US law firm has produced a white paper looking at diversity in other countries: Global equal employment opportunity toolkit: how to draft and launch cross-border policies and initiatives on discrimination, harassment and diversity
It is largely from the American point of view but has some useful pointers for those looking to know more about the topic.

Worldatwork.org
American organisation which has regular newsletters available on registration giving succinct guidance on topics such as setting global pay structures and a variety of other pay issues.

World Economic Forum (Davos)
This group has produced The Global Competitiveness Report 2009-2010  On the same page are links to interviews with the report's authors.There is a 60 minute YouTube video covers the Risk roundup for 2010.

This law firm's website gives comparative employment law for a number of topics in different European countries.  You can choose your specific country or go for the comparative list by clicking on th relevant flag.

Xpatulator
A database of comparable costs of various items in different cities and countries around the world.  Basic information for Tirana, Albania  which has been used as a demonstration example, is free but the more detailed stuff is paid for on a systems of credits which can be bought on the site.

This Academy, launched in 2008.  It is running a six part programme, from March-September, 2010, for global HR managers, covering various topics.

William Mercer
This consultant's site lets you look at a sample and table of contents of their latest Global pay summary.

Robert Walters
This recruitment company has a salary survey for different sectors for 2009 free to download.  It covers more than a dozen countries and sectors such as IT, banking and finance manufacturing, sales and market and supply chain logistics.  The January 2010 survey is due soon and you can register your interest.
