These postgraduate level Standards are set at a basic operational level and cover the knowledge, understanding and competence in four fields:
Leadership and Management
People Management and Development
Specialist and Generalist Personnel and Development
Applied Personnel and Development
Completion of all four fields leads to Graduate membership of the CIPD. The philosophy of assessment at the practitioner level is based on the demonstration of professional competence.

The assessment philosophy of the Professional Development Scheme.
Leadership and Management Standards
These Practitioner Level Standards cover the knowledge, understanding and competence in four fields: - Managing for Results, Managing in a Strategic Business Context, Managing Information for Competitive Advantage and Managing and Leading People
People Management and Development Standards
This vital integrative element of the Practitioner Level Standards must be completed
Applied Personnel and Development Standards
These Standards contain two elements which must be completed:
the Management Research Report
the CPD learning log.
Specialist and generalist standards
A list of the 15 specialist and generalist standards.
Specialist and Generalist Personnel and Development Standards
Four modules must be completed. Where a specialist module is chosen, the corresponding generalist module must be completed.
