It may have rained in Manchester last year, but there was much that was new - and I'm looking forward to another (fairly intense) three day networking and learning experience starting on 9th November. Not that I'm wishing autumn away first, mind you.
When I'm not catching up with many familiar faces and names from the CIPD Communities (my primary role in Manchester), I like to sample some of the conference proper. This time round, I'm particularly looking forward to Vineet Nayar's 'masterclass' entitled "Employees First, Customers Second", which as the conference programme says, turns conventional management upside down (always a good thing). That session clashes with another on "Building a New Generation of HR Leaders", so I need to figure out how to clone myself between now and November. Magnus Lindkvist's "Trend spotters handbook" sounds like something worth catching, too.
At the heart of things on the exhibition floor will be an informal area for people to come together and generally learn more about CIPD's current research themes directly from those who've been blogging about it over recent months on this website. This 'space' will also be the perfect place for us to compare notes and share what we know about LinkedIn and Twitter, too (Foursquare anyone?), and there will be the usual very successful speed networking sessions.
Roll on November!
A trackback is a method for Web authors to request notification when somebody links to one of their documents. This enables authors to keep track of who is linking, and so referring, to their articles. Some weblog software programs, such as Wordpress, Drupal and Movable Type, support automatic pingbacks where all the links in a published article can be pinged when the article is published. The term is used colloquially for any kind of linkback.
