The problem is that the focus of leadership development is too often on developing people to deliver what the organisation wants at the level they are at in the short term - this is not what their people want or need nor is it best for the organisation, missing the critical link between operational and strategic objectives. HR needs to guide the organisation into devloping real leaders who inspire, who care and who can align operational activity to support key strategic objectives...its that simple. And to do that HR needs Business Savvy, which is often lacking making this simple task even more difficult.
