Welcome from Branch Chair
CIPD Chiltern Branch is an important local hub for HR professionals, providing opportunities for continuous professional development and two way communication with Head Office, as well as providing a local touch-point for CIPD members with opportunities for networking.
Having just commemorated the CIPD's Centenary with a conservation event and BBQ for Branch Members and their family at Burnham Beeches, a local nature reserve, our attention is now turning towards the end of the year when we will be shifting our focus to supporting our Graduate Members to upgrade to Chartered Member or Fellow status in line with the phasing out of Grad CIPD status from next year.
In addition we will continue to develop our communication strategies with Members. We will be looking to build on our electronic and social media communications as a cost-effective and reduced carbon-footprint approach to informing and engaging with all of our membership.
CIPD Chiltern Branch has a policy of delivering our events free of charge to local members. This is only possible because of careful financial management and the resourcefulness and energy of our volunteers, upon whom the Branch depends. It is my belief that our Branch networking events offer excellent opportunities for every member at every level to maintain up to date practice. If you attend the local CIPD meetings and programmed events, we can help you improve your personal and professional skills as well as giving you the chance to engage with other HR professionals for support and networking
If you are not a Branch member but would like to receive our e-updates please register now. Of course, details of our events can be found on the branch Events webpage but not all members visit the site on a regular basis and it is easy to miss a presentation or workshop you might be interested in attending. The signing up process does not take long, it is free and we promise not to inundate you with branch emails.
This year we intend to hold two further meetings of our newly created Consultants subgroup – to ensure we are actively engaging with this important sector of our branch membership.
I am looking forward to meeting as many Branch members as possible, listening to your views, responding to your needs and working on your behalf during my term of office.
As a committee we believe that you can benefit most from your membership by being actively involved with the Branch activities. This may be through attending events, contributing to our newsletters, participating in our on line discussions or by joining our Branch Committee. Whatever level of involvement you are able to have, we have no doubt you will find it both valuable and enjoyable.
We are keen to ensure that our Branch programme remains up to date and relevant to you. Please do keep in touch with us and let us have your comments about any past events and even better, suggestions for future events.
We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you.
