Welcome, from Michael Moran, Branch Chair
Are we really coming out of recession? It feels a little like waiting for the first signs of spring.
However for all those of us that subscribe to positive psychology, the more we believe that things are getting better, the more likely that is the outcome. As a CIPD member you would need to have been living as a recluse to miss the debate being generated as to the future of HR and in particular the HR profession roadmap. If you have been living a hermit like existence please visit the CIPD website to find out more. In some small way the branch is trying to help you develop the skills necessary to drive business success in the post recession economy, as well as to help you achieve better career prospects. All members should have received details of the events planned for the first half of 2010. Again, visit the website to review all events and book your place. Apologies for those of you find that events are already full, with over 7000 members and limited funding it is inevitable we can’t satisfy everyone’s needs.
My plea to all members is to become an active participant of the branch. It must be apparent that future success requires business agility, organisations that can rapidly respond to changing environments. This presents a real opportunity to HR professionals. However in order to meet this challenge we need to understand the competitive forces driving the business, what our competitors are doing, and as well developing the skills the will enable the organisation to maximise the talents of its employees. You won’t achieve this in splendid isolation. Be curious. Attend events, join special interest groups and make your voice known to the branch and to the CIPD. Remember the CIPD exists to help you in your current role and your future career.
Events are published on twitter and Linkedin. Please join and contribute to the Linkedin Group.
