Speaker(s):

James McGarry has been an IFA Partner at Positive Solutions since 2005. He has been in UK financial services since 1995.

He has a wealth of professional experience involving both corporate and individual clients. James provides a sound, professional experience in what is often a difficult and intimidating market; using his experience and expertise to clearly explain and secure the best results, ensuring clients receive advice that meets their immediate and long-term goals.

Positive Solutions, the UK's largest National IFA firm, believe that in these challenging times offering independent financial advice could significantly help your business and your clients. And we have been consulting employers on this specific issue for over a year and are well positioned to offer a clear translation of the salient issues and guidance on the choices available to employers.

Event details:

In his comment, Steve Webb, Minister for Pensions (DWP), has given some of the background reasoning to the new Pensions Reform and Auto-Enrolment legislation and outlined some the choices that employers will have to make over the coming months.

This legislation will be seen by some employers as onerous and by others as an opportunity to provide a true benefit to their employees.

Regardless of one’s perspective, the one thing that every UK employer will not be able to do is ignore what is coming.

From 2012, all Employers will face substantial new duties with the implementation of auto enrolment and NEST.

Apart from the additional legislative burden, this will also have a potential impact on the employer's overheads and cash-flow, However, we see this as an opportunity for Employers too.

In our travels, we have found that there remains a general lack of information being published and feel that all Employers deserve as much notice as possible on the factual information.

In this presentation we will look at:

  • giving a detailed overview of the legislative requirements and timescales for the employers
  • what the new Employer duties are,
  • and the areas how we can provide real value in alleviating the burden; both legislatively and financially.
