Fully Booked - Talking numbers:7 things for HR professionals to know about finance!

23 May 2012 18:00 for 18:30 start
Central London Branch

Subject area:
Venue: Interhealth, 111 Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7HR
Speaker(s):

Angus Farr is one of those rare breeds – both a CIPD HR professional and a Chartered Accountant!

His past career has included stints as a Head of Recruitment, an auditor in an accountancy firm and a double glazing salesman (although not in that order!). His day job now as Director of Training Counts is as a coach and trainer developing the business, impact and management skills of mainly ‘technical’ professionals and those supporting them.

He is also a great believer that a little bit of knowledge about finance can go a long way in building the credibility of HR professionals within an organisation and it’s this he’ll be talking about at this event.

Event details:

As more of us HR professionals seek to move away from ‘transactional’ personnel work to more ‘transformational’ HR business partnering roles, an understanding of finance becomes more important than ever.

Our aim in this session is to outline a handful of topics that will give you some practical knowledge and skills to apply in your roles, whatever the organisation.

The session will cover:

  • the three basic reasons why any entity produces financial information in the first place,
  • an overview of the main project appraisal techniques that accountants themselves use (and how you can apply them to your own HR projects)
  • and some tips on getting the most out of the annual budget process!

And don’t worry, no financial or numerical skills are assumed for this session, just a willingness to learn something new!
