Event details: The complexity of maternity and other family leave rights sets traps for even the most seasoned HR professional. This year has seen significant developments, with the introduction of Additional Paternity Leave, the Government’s radical proposals to change the family leave landscape, and some key case law decisions.

This session covers:
  • Additional paternity leave - a refresher of the new regime and discussion of tricky issues, such as an employer’s obligations to offer enhanced paternity pay, and how to juggle redundancy protection priority between maternity and paternity leavers
  • The Government’s radical proposals for a new family friendly and flexible working regime - how will it work, and how can employers best take advantage of the flexibilities on offer? Additional insight will be offered from BLP’s own extensive client survey on the effect of the proposals
  • Perenially difficult pregnancy, maternity and right to return issues, including:
    • rights to time off for ante-natal appoitnments
    • dealing with pregnancy-related illnesses
    • bonus and holiday entitlements during maternity leave
    • redundancy and maternity leave
