Speaker(s):

Between them, Jean Woollard and Alison Piasecka, have been in people and organisational development for more than 60 years. Working across the public, private and not for profit sectors they have rich experience of organisations from the inside out. They are experienced trainers, facilitators, consultants and coaches and, perhaps most importantly, they have experienced profound change in their own lives which now informs their work with people and organisations in transition.

Our work in 'Transitions' demonstrates that there are positive steps that can be taken to support people, build respite and strength to bounce back, and help teams and individuals reshape themselves after restructuring.

Event details:

Moving Through Transitions – from endings to new beginnings - building resilience and well-being in individuals and teams during challenging times.

Change happens all the time- promotion, illness, new partner, job change, new baby, redundancy, bereavement, divorce, house-move, country-move... every individual experiences a number of such changes during their lifetime. Personal transition is the psychological process of coming to terms with the change, whether good or bad, and inhabiting the new situation.

In addition to individual change, these are also times of massive organisational upheaval and uncertainty. Our client organisations speak of these themes- public sector organisations are being radically reshaped and reduced in size and service. Private sector organisations are adjusting to market upheavals and customer shift in spending patterns. People working in all sectors are tested by a world that is experiencing the worst financial crisis since the 1930s with little sign of imminent improvement.

As a result, life expectations and patterns are being recast and this presents HR professionals (many of whom are themselves experiencing the effects of similar changes) with new and increased challenges.

According to recent research:

  • Over 1/3 employers say that stress-related absence has increased in 2009/10 (CIPD 2010)
  •  People issues are 29.7% more significant than tech/financial issues- Workplace Issues Report 2010

During this practical session, we will explore:

  • Some models of personal transition and what helps and hinders
  • ways of working with difficult organisational legacies and uncertain futures
  • how to support teams and individuals through the journey to genuine new beginnings
  • practical tips and techniques for increasing resilience and well-being in yourself and others
