What it's all about - how behavioural decisions are made and changed.

31 July 2012 18:00 for 18:30 start
Coventry, Warwickshire Branch

Subject area:  Learning and development
Venue: Woodside Conference Centre, Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth, Warwickshire CV8 2AL
Speaker(s): Dr Phil Allcock
Event details:

About 10 years ago, Dr Phil Allcock came to the conclusion that the purpose of his job, as a learning and development practitioner, was pretty clear. He was being paid to:

• get people to do what their organisations wanted them to do...
• at critical moments in their day-to-day working lives...
• when he wasn't around to prompt them...
• and keep on doing it.

That, unfortunately, was the easy bit. Phil was then forced to acknowledge that, despite 20 years in the business, a first degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Management Development, he wasn't entirely sure how that was done, particularly the "keep on doing it" bit. What followed was 5 years of academic and practical research which culminated in a PhD and, more importantly, some key insights into how behavioural decisions are made and how we, as Learning and Development practitioners, can actually add real value by facilitating sustained behavioural change. This event is an opportunity to hear about those insights from Phil and to add your own to the mix. As a result of that dialogue we might all learn something useful.
