Special Interest Groups

SME Group

Meetings are held throughout the year mainly targeted at members who are self-employed consultants. HR solo operators working in SMEs who are looking for a specialist consultant to provide outsourced services for their organisation are also welcome.

Don’t be alone, come and join the group where you can meet to:

  • Share experience and knowledge
  • Provide mutual support and guidance
  • Hear speakers on a variety of topics
  • Network
  • Collaborate with other group members

Details of current SME events can be found in the events pages of this website.

Training & Development Group
Following on from the success of the Emotional Intelligence workshop held last year, the Branch has decided to set up a Training and Development Special Interest Group. We aim to:

• Deliver a program of good quality events that appeal to a wide range of training and development audiences

• Provide a platform for training and development professionals to network and keep up to date with latest practices

• Raise the profile of training and development and provide input to related policies.

In 2007 we will be putting on four events. At each of these we plan to incorporate the following:

• Venues with pre-event tours - for HR and training professionals in search of new conference/training locations

• Ice-breaker activities – new ‘warming up’ ideas for trainers

• Takeaways and handouts that give practical ideas for training activities and practices.

Our first event, in February, was an Evaluation Workshop, consisting of a series of short, practical workshops ranging from ‘Linking Evaluation to the Bottom line’ to ‘How To Write a Good Evaluation Form.’

The remaining events will be held at three-monthly intervals. Ideas we have for topics include:

The Business Application of NLP
Executive Coaching
How Training & Development Supports Change

We are keen to have your input to the creation of the rest of the Training and Development Programme, so if you would like us to cover a different topic, or would like to suggest a venue or speaker, please get in touch with Liz Veasey on 07795 122 450
