Event details:
TA provides an invaluable tool for ‘labelling’ human behaviour -
why we do what we do, where our behaviour originates from and how we can choose different patterns and responses to people and events to achieve different outcomes.
The originator was Eric Berne who has written a number of well known books including ‘The Games People Play’ and ‘What do you say after you say hello’. It was originally developed to help psychologists use a simplified language that their patients could understand. More recently TA has been recognised for its value to coach/mentors.
John Ashford will present the basic principles of TA including ego state preferences (Parent: Adult: Child), Transactions, Driver Behaviour, Stokes and Games.
Applied to coaching/mentoring these can help us as coaches to:
• enhance rapport
• manage our own state
• enable our clients to maintain resourceful states and recognise behavioural patterns
and
• increase both our own and our client’s overall self-awareness.
The evening will involve simple questionnaires to help identify our own ego state preferences and drivers, combined with interactive work to practise with the concepts and recognise the impact of the different elements on people’s actions, thoughts and emotions.
An evening full of value to coaches whatever their expertise and experience (except possibly TA experts –but do come and add your expertise!). This Gloucestershire Coaching Network event is open to CIPD members and non-members.
