A Message from the Chair
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Gloucestershire Branch website.
As Chair of the Branch, I hope that you will use this website to understand more about the activities of the Branch. Subsequently, I hope that you will also feel able to support these activities – delivered to you by my excellent committee and its sub-groups - Newsletter, Events and CPD.
To understand the activities of the Branch, please spend a few minutes browsing the subject “tabs” and I am sure that you will be able to find something that is specific to you.
To support the activities of the Branch, you can do this in a number of ways:
· Support the committee – we are always interested to hear from new members wishing to join this network and help promote “best practice” HR & Training in the county
· Support the sub-groups – you can read the Newsletter or contribute an article, improve your knowledge by visiting an Event or seek to enhance your qualifications through CPD
· Attend the AGM – we keep the formal business to a minimum and focus on ensuring that the membership is represented
I am particularly keen to highlight the chance for networking. Effective networking should be high on the list of all HR and Training professionals who are committed to continuous improvement in their professional life. Even if you are not looking to change jobs or get a promotion, networking still plays an important role in keeping your CPD fresh, sharing your ideas with others and helping you get an insight into how to do “our thing” better. Branch involvement is an easy way to achieve an expanded network.
Your Branch is also committed to creating more opportunities for membership involvement, engaging with employers locally on the back of national CIPD initiatives, giving you the Events that you want and ensuring value for money.
On a personal note, I want to see the Branch continue to stretch the standard for people management in Gloucestershire. We all have to face significant challenges as HR and Training professionals and it is our role to shape the debate and ensure the “right things“ happen.
Being involved in your local Branch is one way to ensure that you keep up to date, can make a significant contribution to your company and above all, get together with like-minded people!
Enjoy!
