Bruce Draper is a Director of Sword Solutions Ltd in Leamington Spa. As Managing Director of Geotechnical Instruments Ltd, Bruce created a cultural change that transformed the company into a multiple award-winning 'employer of choice', resulting in staff retention levels dropping from 35 per cent per year to almost zero.
Bruce achieved this by building upon the Pfeffer's Seven principles and adding a further seven 'elements' to create a true employer of choice, in a most competitive marketplace. Bruce's dramatic changes in the organisation were recognised by being nominated for, and winning, the accolade of 'Britain's Best Boss'.
In November 2006, Bruce left Geotechnical Instruments to set up a consultancy company, Sword Solutions Ltd, which is helping other organisations achieve best practice with respect to their employment practices and to improve staff retention.
Originally a GEC Marconi apprentice, Bruce has worked as a manager/director for scientific organisations for over 20 years. Bruce is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce.
