Smaller companies scoop top HR management awards

22 November 2007

Dublin accountancy firm, Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon, has won the country’s top human resource management award selected by the CIPD (Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development). The awards are sponsored by Watson Wyatt.

CIPD Ireland director, Michael McDonnell, said that the 2007 biennial awards provided concrete evidence of the increasing role of people management skills in boosting organisational performance.

The special recognition award for Excellence in HR went to a small retail business, Manzar’s - Gifts and Cards.

The two HR Innovation awards were won by AXA Insurance and McDonald’s Restaurants of Ireland.

Other winners, among the 18 finalists, included Ulster Bank (financial services), Garda Siochana (public service) and Hewlett Packard (manufacturing and industrial). The awards were presented at a gala dinner in Dublin’s Shelbourne hotel on Wednesday 21 November 2007.

Mr McDonnell told the guests and winners that the professional standing of HR practitioners had increased significantly with over 6,000 CIPD members in Ireland, many of whom hold Chartered membership and chartered fellow status.
