Atypical Workers

21 November 2012 18:00 for 18:30 start
Kent Branch (Mid Kent)

Subject area:  (None)
Speaker(s): Richard Thompson - Solicitor at Brachers
Event details: It can be hard to define an atypical worker, but generally the term is used to describe someone who does not work on a permanent or full time basis. It therefore covers temporary workers, contract workers, agency workers, seasonal workers, term time workers, casual workers, sessional workers and so on.
In these uncertain economic times, those employers looking to expand and recruit will often turn towards the use of atypical workers rather than taking on full-time staff.
While these different types of working arrangements are often flexible and cost effective for employer and employee alike, they can also cause all sorts of legal difficulties. This event will attempt to provide guidance on issues such as identifying atypical workers, the extent of the rights held by atypical workers and managing those workers to guarentee the highest return for the employer.
