This is the first Leicestershire branch Employment Law Update for 2010 and will be run as a joint event with Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire CIPD branch.  Topics to be covered at this meeting will include:

STAFF INVESTIGATIONS

A practical look at the issues that arise when investigating staff grievances and disciplinary matters.

We will guide you through the process, starting with when an investigation is needed and who should conduct it.

We will then move on to consider some of the really tricky problems that arise, such as what to do when witnesses are reluctant to get involved and the subject of your investigation starts asking for legal representation.

CHANGING TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

So many employers think that they can change employees' contracts of employment by giving them written notice, but this simply is not true.

Whether the driver for change is cost saving or simply part of your modernisation programme, we will explain the different options available to help you identify the best course of action.

CASE LAW UPDATE

We review the most recent key cases which have changed the employment law landscape.

Explained in simple terms, we will highlight how these developments may impact on you and your organisation
