Event details: This workshop will look at the issue of presenteeism
in the workplace, the cost to the organization and the
individual. It will also explore the importance of effective
communication of employee support provision and how
EAP’s can assist organizations of any size to address
presenteeism and sickness absence. With industry
figures suggesting preseentism is at least 4 times the
cost to an organisation of sickness absence it makes
sense to look at how we support our staff and reduce the
cost to the organization whilst increasing and supporting
employee wellbeing.

One of the questions I am often asked by employers
is “why should I need to be concerned about my
staff’s home related problems, that’s for the individual
to resolve”. As we bring our whole selves to work,
employers who underestimate the cost of life events
and difficulties both inside and outside of work on
their organizations are likely to pay a high cost in
presenteeism as well as sickness absence. Smaller

organizations can often be more vulnerable than larger
companies.
