Membership and CPD

Manchester

Membership is the lifeblood of all Professional Bodies. It is particularly important in a Chartered Professional Body like the CIPD. A critical mass of chartered members is a clear indication of the commitment of members to their profession. The upgrading process has been simplified and streamlined so that it is less daunting and much easier to complete without sacrificing any rigour in scrutinising applications.

To upgrade to Chartered Member you must be a Member and be able to demonstrate three years' relevant experience at management level, two of which must be in a specific personnel and development role. To upgrade to Chartered Fellow you must be either a Graduate or Chartered Member and be able to demonstrate ten years' relevant experience at management level, seven of which must be in a specific personnel and development role. Your current role should be at strategic level.

The simplified application form is available from Wimbledon. (Ring Membership on 020 8612 6208). Have a look at the form and, if you have any questions, contact Roger Hall, the Branch Membership Adviser who will be pleased to answer them. Roger is happy to visit small groups of people or to have individuals come to see him for specific advice. He is also more than willing to visit centres to talk to students about upgrading. Please look in the Newsletter for details of local upgading panels which can upgrade your membership and provide advice.
