In addition to our main branch event each month we currently have special interest groups in People and Organisational Development (POD), Knowledge into Practice (KIP) and also the West Lothian geographical group. Each of these groups runs smaller events on a regular basis.
Please see below for further information on the groups and a contact for each of them and go to the Events page for details of special interest and geographical group events coming up shortly.
People and Organisational Development Group
The People and Organisation Development Group welcomes all those who have an interest in the development of people and organisations. Our events are organised and run by the members themselves and the programme collated by a small team of volunteers.
Our sessions are designed to be engaging, enthusing and educational. We encourage people to arrive at 6pm for a few refreshments and a chance to meet new people or renew connections. The sessions begin at 6:30 and are finished by 8pm.
If you would like further information on the group or to join our e-mail list, please contact Benjamin.budd@scotland.gsi.gov.uk This will allow us to ensure you are prompted for each event with more specific details and also ensure you are notified of any late changes to the programme, venue or cancellations.

People & Organisation Development SIG launch a Linkedin Group
Using the title "POD Edinburgh" this site is designed as a forum for discussion on aspects concerning people and organization development interventions designed to improve personal, team and organizational performance. The group is open to all people willing to share views, ideas and comments from other professionals in this arena. The site is especially designed to carry on discussions following events and has a "no sales" policy.
Knowledge into Practice Group
The KIP group is an active network of HR academics and practitioners within the Branch brought together to create and disseminate state-of-the-art research in HRM policy and practice. Activities this year will centre on the building of collaborative networks across all sectors of the Scottish economy that provide an active and flexible interface between academia, policy makers and HR practitioners.
For further information, please contact: Helen Francis h.francis@napier.ac.uk
West Lothian Group
The West Lothian Group is open to anyone who would like to come along to our HR events which are pertinent to living or working in West Lothian. Less travelling, more opportunities for local networking, getting to know the ‘hood. The locality is not as important as the informative, participative and interactive style of our events. Our current committee are keen to explore and provide space for relevant issues and topic to be raised. We are happy to hear from anyone with ideas or who can answer the West Lothian Question.
If you would like to know more about future events please do not hesitate to contact Laura Crooks laura.crooks@sky.com
PLEASE NOTE that all special interest group events are open to all CIPD branch members and are free of charge (unless otherwise indicated). We look forward to seeing you at a branch event soon.
