It is with great pleasure that I have been nominated to Chair this Branch for a second year. On behalf of my fellow Committee Members I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of the Branch’s Membership, and their colleagues, at all our Branch, Geographical and Special Interest Group meetings. Details of this year’s events programme are available on our ‘Newsletter’ page under “At a Glance Diary”.
As a Branch we offer a range of CPD opportunities to which all are welcome. This year we are continuing to offer regular law updates to meet the on-going demands from membership. In addition we will be offering a one day Branch event in October focused specifically at the career development of our members. The London South Bank University will again be hosting our prestigious joint LSBU/Branch event and details will be announced nearer the time.
We welcome any suggestions from our Membership concerning specific topics for events which will be of general interest and your ideas can be forwarded to us via our Branch contact details.
The Committee welcomes anyone who would like to become more involved with Branch activities, either as a Committee member or as a contributor to one of our many activities. We currently have can active email Policy Advisory Group whom I would particularly like to thank for their contributions.
Our Geographical /Special Interest Groups include:
• The Croydon Group who provide a number of lunch time events covering a wide range of legal issues for practitioners to add to their CPD and networking opportunities
• The Lambeth Group, incorporating joint events with BPP Professional Education and LSBU
• The Small Business Group which is dedicated to the specific needs of self-employed members in the Branch and those working in small businesses, or thinking of starting their own. They provide a support network and run targeted evening events.
We have professional links with the three learning providers in our area; London South Bank University, BPP Professional Education and Croydon College.
We hope that this website will be a useful tool for relating directly with Branch members. The site is also freely open to Branch members who wish to contribute articles regarding CIPD issues at local and national level.
