Event details:
A good deal of the debate on stress has focussed on the working environment and its impact on employees. This is an important area for attention, but it is also true that it is possible to place two individuals into the same working environment and to observe that one succumbs to the pressures of stress and one thrives! The difference between the two can be explained through the concept of Mental Toughness, which explains how individuals develop resilience and an inner drive to succeed and which has emerged as a key component for individual and organisational performance.
Leadership is one of the key elements in inspiring people towards the achievement of organisational goals. In 2007 a detailed examination of every leading model in the academic and occupational spheres was carried out under the expert guidance of Dr. Peter Clough C.Psych. This research led to the discovery that every leading leadership model seemed to have its roots in six specific scales. These scales measure aspects of the leadership style which the individual has adopted. People may adopt different styles in different situations. Leadership is situational. It is now possible to measure an individual's adopted style and match these to the needs of the organisation.
The Seminar will highlight leadership challenges at the top of current Business Coaching agendas and the spotlight will be on how to apply the Mental Toughness Measure to overcome the challenges identified and increase resilience and high performance.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
- Better understanding about what is meant by the terms “Mental Toughness” and “Leadership” in relation to coaching
- Ability to describe a range of practical solutions (based on the mental toughness and leadership models) that can be applied today and the evidence to support their efficiency.
- Delegates will learn ways to increase the mental toughness of their workforce and themselves in order to increase morale, create a 'can do' attitude and reduce absenteeism and attrition.
