Bournemouth, Poole and District

Dear Members

I am very pleased to be able to report a successful year at Bournemouth Poole & District Group with all events well attended and very positive feedback from all attendees. I should like to take this opportunity to thank all members of the Committee who have worked very hard to ensure the success of all events and have contributed very positively to the development of an informative and effective programme. I should particularly like to extend my thanks to Louise Woodward – Group Secretary, without whose help and support the Group would not have had such a successful year and who has proved to be an invaluable asset in supporting me in my role as Chairman. I should also like to take this opportunity to thank Dawn Wilson for her support and advice and ensuring that we have managed to control our funds and deliver a well received programme of events.

The end of the year has seen three valued members of the Committee – Brian Speight, Susan Grant-Foale and Terry Clarke – decide to stand down, I should like to thank Brian, Susan and Terry for all their hard work over many years and the very positive contribution they have made to the committee and to the Bournemouth, Poole and District Group of the CIPD. The positive news is that we have three new members joining the committee – Donna Stonehouse, Sue Heyes and Becky Keevil. I should like to welcome them to the team and look forward to working with them in the future.

We are currently putting the final touches to the programme for 2011/12 and I am confident that again it will prove to be very popular; we have endeavoured to reflect the current economic issues and the challenges faced by HR professionals across the area. Our first event will be an Employment Law Update from Kemp Jones Solicitors on the evening of Wednesday 12th October 2011 at the Bournemouth University Executive Suite, 89 Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth. We are also again holding a couple of very popular breakfast events and we will be looking to hold at least one event in Poole. All our events will naturally be on the CIPD website but also updated and advised well in advance on our Linked In Group.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at our forthcoming events. Please remember that this is your Group and we want to ensure that the events we hold reflect your interests so please let any member of the committee have any ideas you have for future topics.
