Event details:

Tribunals are expensive because of the potential financial penalties, the effect on employee morale, lost management time and the damage to an employer’s reputations. The steps taken at the beginning of any tribunal claim often affect the success of an employer’s defence. This course provides an overview of the employment tribunal procedure from the point at which the claim is received up until the actual tribunal hearing. It covers the basic stages of a tribunal claim and deals with some of the complex tribunal rules. It also helps delegates think proactively and strategically about the handling of claims which they may receive.

Delegates will be able to:

• explain the typical progress of a claim through the tribunal system
• apply the tribunal rules of procedure
• assess the risks and costs associated with a claim
• evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of settlement
• respond proactively to a tribunal claim
• identify relevant witnesses
• prepare for a tribunal hearing
• make an informed decision as to whether they need legal representation.
