Every year we award a prize for the best management research report to investigate a ‘live’ human resource issue or problem in an organisation. This year we are opening up the opportunity to candidates who have completed a report for Investigating a Business Issue from a Human Resources Perspective (7IBI) in addition to those undertaking the Professional Development Scheme .
Who can enter?
Entry is open to candidates from all centres approved to offer the Professional Development Scheme or Advanced level Qualifications. Each centre can submit one entry only.
The Prize
The successful candidate will receive a cheque for £500 and a certificate highlighting their achievement. The winner will be announced and awarded later in the year at a venue yet to be confirmed. The winning candidate’s centre will also receive a certificate.
Your report is eligible for entry if it:
- is at distinction level
- is routed clearly in an analysis of research and contemporary organisational practice
- includes practical developments for the specified organisation and/or organisations in general
- contains information which has the potential to change attitudes and/or practices within an organisation
- includes recommendations for improvement and methods of implementation within organisations
We’ll be looking for reports that contain creative solutions and appropriate recommendations for action. The nine criteria we will use to assess the ‘best’ management research report are:
- clarity and relevance of terms of reference
- critical analysis of the most significant contributions to the literature
- justification and use of appropriate methods of data collection
- focused and relevant discussion of organisational context, evidence of systematic data collection and clear presentation of findings
- comprehensive analysis and interpretation of findings
- appropriateness of conclusions in the light of terms of reference and empirical work
- realistic, timely and cost-effective recommendations and action plan
- professional presentation of material and argument, and clear and accurate referencing.
- evidence that personal learning has been reviewed
All nine criteria should be addressed succinctly in a way that shows linkages and the clear development of ideas.
How to enter?
Entry is free of charge. Please send two copies of your nominated candidate’s report, or an electronic copy on CD, by 29 June 2012 to:
