We are looking for a talented professional to join our vibrant Public Affairs Team as the Employer Stakeholder Engagement Lead. This exciting new opportunity has two main elements:

  • to enable the CIPD to develop it’s convening capacity with employer stakeholders (which include employer bodies, the business lobby group, our members and individual employers) in order to improve our voice and influencing ability with Government and Policy makers
  • to manage our existing employer campaigns (developed from our policy and research work) and grow and facilitate future campaigns designed to change workplace practice and culture in support of Championing Better Work and Working Lives.

This post requires a highly organised individual, with a proven track record of managing a diverse workload and completing projects to deadlines. As the ability to build relationships with stakeholders (both internally and externally) is fundamental to this role, a confident manner is essential as is the need for outstanding verbal and written communication skills. The candidate needs to be a self-starter, who can work with the Public Affairs Manager and other senior colleagues proactively. Experience of managing campaigns and working with employer stakeholders is highly desirable as is a good knowledge of the UK political and policy landscape, particularly where it affects the world of work.

Responsibilities include:

  • setting up, managing and growing a specialist policy forum made up of CIPD Senior Director-level members that can contribute to our engagement activities and voice with Government at the highest level
  • working with the Membership and Marketing teams to build effective processes/channels for regularly engaging with members on the CIPD’s Public Policy and Research work
  • working with the wider Public Affairs Team on responding to specific Government/policy consultations by leading and managing the collation of views/ evidence from CIPD members (includes building and disseminating member surveys and managing member focus groups)
  • establishing and growing a network of key employer stakeholder contacts that the Policy, Public Affairs and Community Investment Teams can specifically utilise to involve in collaborative policy and campaign activities
  • delivering and managing engagement with employer stakeholders on the CIPD’s Learning to Work campaign and scoping out and managing other future employer campaigns the CIPD will adopt
  • turning research outputs and strategic priorities into campaigning materials and to contributing to blogs and social media activity.
