Who is it for
The CIPD Advanced Level Award in Reward Management qualification provides a means of professional recognition in the field of reward management. It is relevant for HR generalists wishing to either continue in a generalist role or specialise in reward, and for pay and reward specialists and consultants.

Accreditation
Upon successful completion of the programme, you’ll be awarded the CIPD Advanced Level Award in Reward Management. The qualification is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), and equivalent to QCF level 7.
Content
Course Module 1 : Introductory Workshop - Duration: 1 day

This introductory workshop helps you to understand the structure and requirements of the CIPD Advanced Level Award in Reward Management programme. It identifies the opportunities, challenges and sources of help and support available. It covers some general aspects of reward management.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to:

  • identify the key requirements of the Award
  • define the components of reward
  • analyse the links between reward, the organisation and the external environment
  • explain the factors that influence people to join or leave an organisation
  • identify the factors that create engagement and motivate employees to deliver high performance
  • evaluate the skills required of reward specialists.
Course Module 2 : Base and Variable Pay - Duration: 2 days
This two-day course module focuses on structuring and managing base pay; designing variable pay programmes, and delivering on-going financial support to your business organisation.
Course Module 3 : Benefits, Pensions and Share Schemes - Duration: 2 days
This two-day course module will give you the the confidence, knowledge and skills to make an influential contribution to the management of your organisation’s benefit plans, pensions, and share schemes.
Course Module 4 : Reward in Context - Duration: 2 days
This practical and interactive two-day course module uses case studies to deliver the specialist knowledge needed to aligning reward strategy with the business, HR and organisational strategy. It addresses the reward environment in which the organisation operates and looks at the resources required to manage reward schemes.
Course Module 5 : Global Mobility - Duration: 1 day
This one-day course module will help you develop specialist knowledge in global mobility and be better equipped to manage your company’s assignment programme, develop and negotiate expatriate packages and manage the interface with third party providers.

To gain the CIPD Advanced Level Award in Reward Management, you must:

Length of programme
You have a maximum of two years to complete the requirements of the programme.

Course Tutors

Mrs Moira French

Moira French is an experienced reward consultant with extensive knowledge of the voluntary and public sectors. Recent assignments have been undertaken for Certitude Support, the Institute of Cancer Research and Westminster Abbey. Between 2005 and 2009 Moira worked as an Acas appointed equal pay independent expert. Between 1997 and 2008 she was Head of Reward at Barnardos, a very large voluntary sector organisation. For eight years before that Moira was senior lecturer in HR at Croydon Business School, teaching on a range of CIPD and management programmes. She has also worked as a personnel manager for the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority and as the senior research officer supporting national negotiators at the Rcn, a trade union and professional organisation for nurses. Moira started her career in business planning with BOC.

Mr Simon Richardson

Currently Head of Global Mobility at Total Reward Solutions, a ‘boutique’ Reward Consultancy established in October 2005. A founder member of the business responsible for all aspects of running the Global Mobility business including business development, managing outsourced assignment programmes and client advisory services. Technical areas of specialisation include expatriate compensation and benefit design, tax and social security planning, assignment cost tracking, global mobility policy development and the legal issues associated with assignment contracts. Previous roles include Senior Manager at PwC setting up an internal Global Mobility function between 1996 and 2003 and managing Logica assignees between 1989 and 1996.

Mr Mark Childs

Mark is Managing Director of the Total Reward Group, comprising the boutique reward consultancy Total Reward Solutions and the specialist search and interim practice Total Reward Careers. He has previously headed up global compensation and benefits in Fidelity Investments, Seagram, Chubb, Reckitt & Colman plc and Forte plc. His early career was as an HR generalist, with an academic background in industrial relations.

Mark is a Chartered Companion and former Vice President Reward of the CIPD. During this time he was chief architect of the CIPD’s Advanced Award in Reward Management and is Tutor for the Pensions, Share Schemes and Benefits module.

A Fellow of the Institute of Consulting, Mark is a former member of the CBI’s National Employment Policy Committee and author of Personnel Today’s One Stop Guide to Reward Management. He is an experienced reward adviser and currently Chairman of the Remuneration Committee of Atlantic Equities LLP.

Mr Denis Crowe

Denis is a freelance reward management consultant and until August 2011 worked as the Head of Reward Consulting at Pilat HR Solutions. In 2012 Denis set up his own consulting business, Denis Crowe Consulting Limited. Prior to January 2005, Denis worked as a senior manager in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ human resource consulting practice. His expertise encompasses all aspects of reward management, including: high level reviews of payment systems and reward strategies; pay and grading reviews; performance incentive arrangements; and market pricing of jobs including salary and benefit surveys. He has led a wide range of remuneration engagements in both the public (including executive agencies) and private sectors, across European and International locations. Most of these involved a wider review of business objectives and linking reward policies and practices to business requirements.

Mr Clive Wright

Clive is Director of Hyperion HR Ltd. The company provides HR and reward consulting services to business leaders and HR directors. He established Hyperion after leaving Mercer in 2009 following eight years as a Principal working with FTSE 100 and international companies. Prior to joining Mercer he fulfilled senior global HR and reward roles for major international companies. Clive has served as chair of the CIPD Reward Forum for eight years and currently delivers both the ‘Developing a Reward Strategy’ and 'Reward in Context' courses. He is a Visiting Professor at London Metropolitan University and the Council Director of the European and Asia-Pacific Compensation and Benefits Councils of The Conference Board.

Fees and Dates

Full Up-front Qualification Fee £4,599 + VAT, Member fees: £4,599 + VAT

You can either pay the full fee up-front, or pay on a course module by course module basis. If you choose to pay course module by course module, you'll be invoiced for the introductory workshop (including all the programme resources), four course modules and the revision workshop on an individual basis for the total fee of £4,829 + VAT.

The fees include all tuition, personal tutor support, assessment, examination fees, course material and access to the dedicated Virtual Learning Environment. They do not include travel, accommodation or registration as a studying member of the CIPD (mandatory for all candidates who are not already CIPD members).
