Habits and Happiness 9: If at First you don’t Succeed…

My last post was in late January. What can I say? I have slipped off the treadmill so to speak. I haven’t lost weight as I planned and did a lot of the things I said I would not. That makes me human but I am not making excuses. I now have a deeper insight into what really motivates and now some targets to aim for. I also have some clothes I cannot fit which I should be able to fit. I also narrowly avoided playing a proper football match which in my current condition would have knackered me. I love football and want to play. So I am back on track. The need for a morning workout 3 times per week is now etched in my skull in a way it wasn’t before. I got a good ticking off from a friend of who read my blog and was justifiably disappointed that I was still a big biffer. If I was shorter then my six foot frame I would probably look fatter but I certainly know I am. I started off this morning and had a great workout. I had started to eat better and then slipped away now I intend to get that back on track as well. I have curbed my drinking during week days and now for the first time on weekends, though Fulham’s brilliant results in Europe recently haven’t helped. Anyway I am determined and driven to succeed. The best thing is coming out of the health club I feel great. I need to do that more. I have an incentive to get fitter for football on the 12th of April where after our rained off game CIPD staff will be playing 90 minutes to raise money for sport relief. Anyway apologies for the football analogies non fans but here is how I see it. I have used this with a coaching client who underestimated her achievements. I am two nil down at half time but I have had a hell of a pep talk at half time . I am going to perform in the second half after having my internal hairdryer give me a good blasting. I will lose it. Just watch me.
