There are well over 1,000 people who volunteer / work for the CIPD in many different capacities - including for example, branch officials, assessors, mentors and the CIPD Board.  As part of our centenary celebrations, CIPD is seeking to reward and recognise the contribution that volunteers make to the success of the CIPD.

Steve Bridger and I have nominated our extraordinarily wonderful Community Champions for the CIPD Volunteer of the Year Awards.

Steve wrote a supporting statement on why we thought they deserve recognition for the way they support fellow members so generously.

It must have struck a chord because just before the bank holiday, we learned that they'd collectively been chosen as Volunteer Award finalists :)

The winners will be announced at a Centenary dinner to take in York today! 6 June, and some of our community champs plus our moderator Steve will be there.

I filmed a supporting statement for the awards ceremony which I think will be available to view more widely soon!

Anyway, win or lose tonight, I hope you'll join me in thanking our champs for all that they do here on the forum to support others and offer great advice, humour and guidance. I'm not going to list eveyone here as I'd hate to miss anyone out. Maybe Steve can post up the definitive list when he gets a moment.

All the best team Communities!

Thanks, Johanna. I'm on my way to York now, where the community 'Champions' will be represented by David Boyd, Jackie Chiplin, Ruth Dawson, and David Perry.

I'll perhaps list all the Champions later, but so many have helped over the past nine and a half years. One - Peter Cunningham - has been been here since we ran the pilot in autumn 2003!

Everyone who contributes is integral to this community. One and all. And any Member passing through, reading, and taking something of value from what others have shared... we're here for you, too.

    More anon.

    Steve
