Help! Ideas for rewarding good performance
The issue
Your team of 11 people have just delivered a superb performance at team and individual level and you want to reward them and maintain the momentum created by their achievement. What rewards are available when you are not in the position to award pay bonuses or flexi-time but are happy to give your time and money to achieve a solution?
The responses
A variety of suggestions are made. Some contributors agree that a celebratory meal away from the office (weather-permitting, even a picnic) need not be prohibitively expensive and would serve to give a strong sign of recognition and accentuate the team effort. This could be linked with the presentation of printed certificates. A further suggestion is that a senior company member could be called upon to congratulate the team, thus emphasising the contribution that has been made to the wider organisation. Other contributors suggest giving cinema tickets or vouchers (dependent on interests), or organising a team activity day (though this would best suit active/outdoor types). One contributor recommends that being congratulated in front of colleagues, perhaps at a major company conference, gives the kind of acknowledgement that really builds esteem.
