Steve Morton joined Virgin Money in March 2013 as Head of People and Organisational Development, after over a decade at Coca-Cola where he was European Head of Learning & Talent.
He transformed the approach to developing the organisation through “delivering today and building for a tomorrow where everyone’s better off” which is at the heart of the business strategy.
This is about ensuring all colleagues are “willing and able” to do what they need to do today whilst at the same time, being clear on where the organisation is heading and any changes that will arise, to what people will need to be able to do in the future to play their part in the quest to make banking better. It is vital to understand the capability and talent at the bank and also how people feel about being there.
Steve also introduced a new ‘colleague development approach’ aligned with the values of the company through “developing all of our colleagues to build a better kind of bank”.
