We've made it easy to incorporate study into an already hectic life. You can study pretty much anywhere, anytime.
We suggest you set aside around 8-10 hours for study per week. Don't forget that you will have support on all sides though - whether it's in a study group, from fellow students or from us.
We have developed a range of different learning resources and study materials that enables you to make the best use of your study time. These include:
Workbooks
The workbooks provide the starting point for your learning and are divided into one-hour bite sized chunks (called worksessions) to help you make the best use of the time available.
They include useful activities based around typical issues you are likely to meet at work. There is also a significant amount of feedback that is helpful as you prepare for your exams and assignments.
Best of all, the worksessions are integrated with the other learning materials and provide specific links to other information available in your pack, such as:
- tracks on the audio CDs for practitioner views
- key articles and resources on the website from a range of key journals
- page references in the student textbooks for the broader theoretical information.
This saves many hours of library and Internet search time.
Textbooks
Each subject has a text book. The learning materials are fully integrated with specific sections of the textbooks, so you don't waste time trying to locate useful information.
Learner Support Website
This support site is a unique benefit for Flexible Learners as it provides a series of resources that have been gathered and grouped under the topic areas you are studying. This means that you can locate useful material at the touch of a button without having to undertake extensive web searches. You will find aids to help you prepare for assignments and exams, as well as magazine and journal articles and information on CIPD research.
You can also view, contribute and benefit from discussions on our bulletin boards, which are facilitated by subject matter experts.
Audio CDs
Our audio CDs cover a range of hot topics, current themes and issues faced by HR professionals.
Each CD lasts approximately 30 minute and includes contributions from a range of academics and key note speakers on CIPD's own conference platforms, such as the Annual Conference and Exhibition. There are also specially commissioned views from a range of practitioners who are dealing with the practical implementation of HR policies everyday. The audio CDs can be listened to independently of the other learning materials.
Programme titles include, The Future of the Psychological Contract and HR and Customer Services.
