Midlands Region Strengthening HR’s capability to build strong and dynamic organisations 11 November 2015

At the recent CIPD Ireland Midlands Region event Strengthening HR’s capability to build strong and dynamic organisations held on Wednesday 11th November, David O’Grady, Chairperson CIPD Ireland Midlands Region Committee, welcomed all in attendance, thanked Vhi Healthcare, our main sponsors and introduced the key speaker, Sarah Purcell, Senior HR Organisational Capability Partner in Intel Ireland.

Sarah Purcell focuses primarily on strategy, organisation design, talent and leadership. Since joining Intel in 2003, Sarah has worked in a variety of roles in talent and business HR. Sarah is a Master Trainer and Greater Europe Regional Expert in Architecting the Organisation and has designed and facilitated strategy and organisation design sessions for numerous business groups across a variety of disciplines in Ireland, Europe and globally. Sarah has an MBS in Management and Organisation Studies from the Smurfit Graduate School of Business in Dublin.

Sarah spoke about the ability of any business to develop a differentiating strategy being crucial, but emphasised it would only lead to competitive advantage if executed flawlessly. In an unpredictable environment where strategies and businesses evolve and change at an ever increasing cadence, Sarah stated the ability of an organisation to assess and respond to these changes and reconfigure itself to enable strategy execution is more important than ever.

Sarah shared key concepts and fundamental questions that HR can use to walk leaders systemically through the process of creating and implementing winning business strategies. The presentation covered strategy creation through to designing dynamic organisations that enable strategy implementation.

This was the third talk in an exciting programme of events for 2015/2016 provided by the CIPD Ireland Midlands Region Committee. The overriding theme throughout this year’s programme is HR advancing workplace capabilities.
