Charles Handy to receive the CIPD Ireland Gold Medal

Thursday 14 June 2012

To celebrate 75 years in Ireland, CIPD will present Professor Charles Handy with the prestigious CIPD Charles E. Jacob Gold Medal at An Evening with Charles Handy in the Mansion House on Thursday 28 June 2012 at 6:30pm.

Charles E. Jacob - of Jacobs’ Biscuit fame - was an Irish humanitarian and business personality, who in June 1913 in York, England, was a founding member of the institute that is now CIPD.

There are few people more worthy of the Charles E. Jacob Gold Medal than Charles Handy.  Professor Handy is one of the most influential management thinkers of his generation, being rated second only to Peter Drucker on the Thinkers 50 list of most influential global thought leaders.

Charles Handy has dedicated a considerable part of his professional life to demonstrating how organisations can be transformed into communities that go beyond the mere pursuit of profit.  An idea very much of our time as people struggle to find new direction and meaning in their lives.
