About this download

The LRC in association with CIPD Ireland commissioned a major research initiative entitled Human Resources in the Recession: Managing and Representing People at Work in Ireland.

The research was conducted by a team at the Smurfit School of Business, University College Dublin and the Management School of Queen’s University Belfast.  The research was led by Professor William Roche of UCD and Professor Paul Teague of Queen’s University Belfast.

The findings reveal how HR professionals have gained real influence and enhanced their strategic position as organisations strive to balance payroll reductions with measures to improve commitment and engagement.

The findings were presented to the CIPD Ireland Annual Meeting on 25 May 2011 by Professor Roche, Chartered FCIPD, Professor of IR & HR, University College Dublin.
