About this download
This revised guide, produced by CIPD and Jobcentre Plus, looks at the benefits of work experience for young people, employers as well as the wider economy and society. The guide reflects on the importance of high-quality work experience for young people and aims to encourage more employers to deliver the kind of high-quality placements that many already offer. It also provides resources for those who want to ensure their placements are beneficial to young people and their own organisations.
It includes a 'quality charter' which sets out what employers should put in and what participants should expect to get out of work experience placements. We encourage employers to use this as a guide for their own work experience placements.
A short leaflet Making Work Experience Work from the CIPD, Education and Employers Taskforce and UKCES is also available as a download below. This leaflet includes practical steps and tips for employers.
