On 5 December 2013 Acas launched a consultation on an amendment to the Code of practice on disciplinary and grievance procedures. It is seeking views on a specific change to the Code concerning the statutory right for workers to be accompanied at a disciplinary or grievance hearing.
Royal Assent 25 April 2013. Introduces new kind of employment status called employee shareholder status where in return for giving up certain employment rights, employees will be given between £2,000 and £50,000 of shares that are exempt from capital gains tax. The new status came into force on 1 September 2013.
Royal Assent 25 April 2013. The Act contains a wide variety of provisions to reform employment law, including pre-claim conciliation, greater use of settlement agreements and changes to whistleblowing protections.
Coming into force on 22 July 2013. The new Code of practice on equal pay will provide employers in Northern Ireland with practical guidance on how to promote equality and avoid sex discrimination in pay structures.
Coming into force on 29 July 2013. The Code of practice will support legislation under the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013 on pre-termination discussions.
Royal Assent 1 May 2012. The Act implements changes to CRB checking and checking against barred lists and the setting up of a new Disclosure and Barring Service.
The revised Directive includes proposals to extend paid maternity leave to 20 weeks. The proposals must be approved by the EU Council of Ministers before they can be adopted.
Royal Assent 1 May 2012. Enacts legal aid and litigation, funding reforms and changes to the sentencing and punishment of offenders.
Acas has launched a public consultation on the new draft Code of Prectice on the extended right to request flexible working.
Royal Assent 3 November 2011. Brings forward an increase in the state pension age (SPA) to 66 by October 2020 and women's SPA to 65, in line with men's SPA, by November 2018. Includes measures to help companies auto-enrol into a pensions scheme.
Royal Assent 8 March 2012. Aims to simplify the benefits system in order to improve work incentives by removing its complexity and reducing unnecessary administration. Introduces a new Universal Credit.
Published on 11 May 2011. The statutory code explains how the Data Protection Act 1998 applies to the sharing of personal data.
Came into force 3 April 2011. Provides practical guidance on the legal requirements relating to disciplinary and dismissal procedures and good employment practice in dealing with grievances.
Came into force 1 January 2010. Revised version providing guidance for employers.
Came into force on 6 April 2011. Explains the equal pay provisions in the Equality Act 2010.
Came into force on 6 April 2011. Provides guidance on the provisions in the Equality Act 2010 which relate to employment and work-related activities.
Came into force 1 May 2011. Replaces the 2006 version.
Came into force 19 April 2012. Replaces previous Code published in 2004.
Royal Assent 8 April 2010. Coming into force 2010 - 2012. Details of the implementation of the the Equality Act 2010 which aims to consolidate and simplify discrimination legislation.
Royal Assent 22 March 2011. Repeals the statutory grievance procedures in Northern Ireland and will introduce the right to request time off for training.
