Resource summary

This report and its recommendations are based on the discussions and insights of the Family Friendly Working Hours Taskforce - a group of representatives from business, organisations that represent business, employees and families, non-government bodies and government departments – to provide an expert perspective on flexible working practices.

A number of recommendations to support cultural change with regard to flexible working are included – these should increase the number and range of jobs that can be worked flexibly in some way, and so increase the supply of high quality staff to employers. The recommendations are included under three main themes:

  • Supporting employers
  • Public sector leading by example
  • Stimulating the recruitment market
