Absence management 2012: public sector summary
This summary report, produced in partnership with Simplyhealth, presents the key findings for the public sector from the CIPD’s 2012 Absence Management survey.
Absence can have a significant impact on the morale, workloads and stress levels of colleagues. Organisations need to ensure that managers are supported and motivated to apply absence policies rigorously and consistently in order to reduce absence and ‘presenteeism’.
Whilst overall absence rates have fallen nearly a third of organisations (an increase on previous years) report an increase in ‘presenteeism’ – people coming to work ill.
