Managing an ageing workforce: how employers are adapting to an older labour market
Resource summary
Based on a survey of members of the CIPD and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), this report examines the attitudes of HR professionals and managers to older workers, how equipped organisations are to cope with an ageing workforce, and the impact on HR policies and practices.
The findings show that employers recognise the invaluable contributions older employees can make, and that negative perceptions about older workers are generally declining. However, the report concludes that there is a worrying lack of preparedness for an ageing workforce, and recommends that top teams must become strategically involved in promoting the age agenda.
