Welcome from the Chair
CIPD Chiltern Branch is an important local hub for HR professionals, providing opportunities for continuous professional development and two way communication with Head Office, as well as providing a local touch-point for CIPD members with opportunities for networking.
CIPD Chiltern Branch endeavours to deliver a variety of events covering a broad range of topics. It is my belief that our Branch networking events offer excellent opportunities for every member at every level to maintain up to date practice. If you attend the local CIPD meetings and programmed events, we can help you improve your personal and professional skills as well as giving you the chance to engage with other HR professionals for support and networking.
Keep up to date with what's happening in and around the Branch
Members can find out about forthcoming events, local news and information through our quarterly e-newsletter or Eventbrite. We also send out emails about forthcoming events. Our members automatically receive these. The signing up process does not take long, it is free and we promise not to inundate you with branch emails. Please remember to update your email address by visiting the “My Profile” section of the main CIPD homepage.
If you want to increase your networking opportunities, work with like-minded HR professionals and have some fun along the way then join us on LinkedIn.
As a committee we believe that you can benefit most from your membership by being actively involved with the Branch activities. This may be through attending events, contributing to our newsletters, participating in our on line discussions or by joining our Branch Committee. Whatever level of involvement you are able to have, we have no doubt you will find it both valuable and enjoyable.
We are keen to ensure that our Branch programme remains up to date and relevant to you. Please do keep in touch with us and let us have your comments about any past events and even better, suggestions for future events. We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you.
The branch has around 2,200 members, many of whom live and work in the Chiltern area. Due to our proximity to the capital we also have a number of members who commute into London and as a result we have forged links with many of the local branches in that area to ensure that we offer our members a complete service.
Our members are from all levels and specialisms across the Human Resources field. From directors to students, we have established links with businesses in the local area as well as the major CIPD course providers (Amersham and Wycombe College, Aylesbury College and Buckinghamshire New University).
Although we have only a limited number of specialist groups in comparison to other branches, we pride ourselves on providing an annual learning programme that is second to none. Focused around three major hubs, Beaconsfield, Slough and Aylesbury, we hold monthly events that facilitate networking opportunities and personal development in a number of leading edge topics. Through these we strive to help members to develop in their chosen careers and contribute to the success of their organisations.
The committee that coordinate the activities across the branch are always pleased to listen to our members views and welcome you to any events that you wish to attend. Moreover, as all the events that the branch offer are free of charge, please feel free to keep an eye on our events listings and attend those that you feel are most relevant to your personal or business interests.
The branch committee meets every six weeks. In addition we have an Education and Development Sub Committee, which includes course providers, and which meets twice a year, an Events Sub Committee which plans and organises our Events Programme, a Policy Subgroup which informs the CIPD response to key national policies and government consultations and an ad-hoc Consultants Special Interest Group which aims to meet at least twice a year. We are always keen to welcome new members to the branch, the committee or any of the sub or special interest groups.
We hope that you find this website a useful tool for engaging directly with the branch committee and members within the Chiltern area.
